Here at Oak Furniture House we work tirelessly to ensure our impact on the environment is kept to a minimum by working with carefully selected suppliers.

Whilst all of our suppliers conform to the EUTR regulations, the below suppliers stand out for their consistent efforts in reducing their environmental impact.

“Alexander Rose values demonstrate clear commitment to sustainability, and our timber collections epitomise this to the full”

Alexander Rose have been manufacturing since 1994 and have gained a reputation as a market leader for high quality wooden furniture; consequently they supply the majority of our wooden garden furniture products.

The timbers used to create these pieces are all FSC Certified and come from sustainable sources.

For example, the premium hardwood range is crafted from Bolivian Roble, the Cornis range comes from carefully managed forests in The Congo, and the Sherwood & Old England ranges are sustainably sourced in Vietnam.

“Ethical and environmental considerations are at the heart of everything we do”

All of our Bentley ranges contain materials that are derived from low risk sources, such as PEFC certified beech from Germany and American white oak lumber.

The manufacturing plant undertake yearly ethical audits to reassure our customers that it meets acceptable international guidelines.

“We have complete traceability of the full raw material supply chain”

All of our Bentley ranges fully meet the European Union Timber Regulations through their chain of custody certification.

“We design and create high-quality furniture at very affordable prices – but not at the expense of our planet, or the people who work hard to make the products for us”

Homebrands utilise specially-trained Quality Controllers who regularly visit the manufacturers all over the globe to check the quality of the materials and where they are being sourced.

All of our Homebrands ranges contain materials that are derived from low risk sources and there is complete traceability of the full raw material supply chain.

Order from Touch by Homebrands and you can be sure that:

  •  All our wood is responsibly sourced. We never use illegally-felled wood or wood from endangered species of trees.

  •  All our manufacturers provide a healthy working environment for their staff and meet our high safety standards.

  •  We reduce wastage as well as costs by ordering large quantities of products at a time.

We keep transportation emissions to a minimum by designing many of our products to be transported efficiently, this allows us to minimise our carbon footprint.

Besp-Oak is our crown-jewel of eclectic ranges! They create exciting works of art and accessories for the home out of anything from old antiques, salvaged car parts, machinery and reclaimed woods.

The below ranges are examples of how they maintain environmentally friendly values:

  • and Urban Loft are created from reclaimed pine

  • Upcycled Originals and Bonfide are ranges that contain individual, unique products that are crafted from salvaged antiques so this stops them being placed in landfill.

The floating shelves and candle holders are salvaged teak from truck beds and railway sleepers which have many beautiful properties, such as being highly mould, pest and damp proof (due to high levels of oil and silica naturally present in teak) which means it ages beautifully and lasts for years, making it good for the environment.

  • The Vintage Display Crates are new, but made from mango wood which is incredibly sustainable, being a by-product of food production.

  • The Clocks and Upcycled Lighting ranges are all upcycled from antique items like jugs, doors, windows, bowls, salvaged car parts and brick moulds. They have lots of unique character and yet again are repurposed instead of going to landfill.

Repro Furniture Company are our go-to for Indonesian-made hardwood furniture, and they always ensure these items are sent to the UK with validated FLEGT certificates.

FLEGT stands for Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade, their aim is to strengthen the sustainability and legality of forest management, to improve forest governance and to promote trade in legally produced timber with the main goal of reducing illegal logging.
